Birthday Card Class Card #4

Here's another card from my birthday card class yesterday. It uses the Dahlia Fold technique and I got the idea from djolet on Splitcoast. Her card can be found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/798500?si=tlc153. I'm very grateful to her for the inspiration.
Supplies:
  • Stitched Background stamp
  • Full Of Life stamp set (Occasions 2008 Mini Catalogue)
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (4 1/4" x 11")
  • River Rock cardstock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
  • Ruby Red cardstock (3 3/4" x 5")
  • Very Vanilla cardstock (3 5/8" x 4 7/8")
  • Ginger Blossom Designer Paper
  • Scrap of Garden Green cardstock
  • Groovy Guava classic ink
  • Ruby Red classic ink
  • Garden Green marker
  • 1 3/8" circle punch
  • 1 1/4" circle punch
  • Small oval punch
  • Paper crimper
  • Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon
  • Snail Adhesive
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Post it notes

Instructions:

  • Cover approximately 1 1/4" from the bottom of the smaller Very Vanilla piece with post it notes.
  • Ink Stitiched background stamp with Groovy Guava ink and stamp on masked Very Vanilla piece. Remove post it notes.
  • Punch three 1 3/8" circles and one 1 1/4" circle from Ginger Blossom designer paper.
  • Fold the circles using the Dahlia fold technique found here http://www.cardsandcrafts.freeservers.com/dahlia.html
  • Adhere the three bigger dahlia folds near the top of the background stamped vanilla piece to form the flower and the smaller dahlia fold lower to the right to form the blossom.
  • Free hand draw the stem using the Garden Green marker
  • Crimp a scrap of Garden Green cardstock diagonally using the paper crimper
  • Punch out two ovals using the small oval punch. Fold both ovals in half. These will be come the leaves.
  • Adhere the leaves opposite to the blossom
  • Stamp birthday sentiment from Full of Life on the bottom left side of the card using Ruby Red ink
  • Cut approximately 5 1/2" of Groovy Guave double stitched ribbon. Adhere to vanilla piece at the edge of the background stamp image, by taping ends to ribbon to the back of the card
  • Cut a smaller (2 - 3") piece of ribbon. Tie around the ribbon piece from Step 12 at the stem of the flower
  • Finish card

Enjoy!
